Temporary On-premises Signs means any sign that is relocatable or removable from a site and used for advertising of a limited duration.

The copy on such a sign identifies or advertises a business, activity, product, service or entertainment located on the premises or site where the sign is displayed. These permits may be valid up to 365 days.

  • Permission from the landowner or representing agent is required in order to obtain a valid permit. A valid business license to operate from that site is required.
  • no sign shall be placed on a site prior to the site being issued development permit approval. Subject to zoning
    • up to 5 signs per property are permitted at any time
    • must maintain a separation distance of 100 ft from another portable sign.
  • No part of the sign may project past the property line or obstruct traffic view
  • Portable signs must be on the business property and represent the business activity. They can not advertise a third party.
  • City of Edmonton Permits are valid for a duration they have been applied for; 90 days or 1 year. At which time they can be reapplied for.
