GENERAL RULES FOR Grande Prairie SIGNS

  • Signs shall not interfere with the safe movement of pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
  • Unless otherwise allowed under the provisions of this Schedule, no sign shall project or encroach over any lot line

Portable Signs in Grande Prairie

A Portable Sign means a sign that is relocatable or removable from a site and used for advertising for a temporary period of time. The copy on such a sign identifies or advertises a business activity, Portable Sign product, service or entertainment located on the premises or site where the sign is displayed

  • A development permit is not required from the City of Grande Prairie if all the applicable conditions from the bylaws in section 4.10 are met

  • Land owner permission required.

  • Portable signs in Grande Prairie must be on the business property and represent the business activity. They can not advertise for third party.

  • A portable sign can not be within 15m from another portable sign or billboard.

  • The number of portable signs that can be put onto a property in Grande Prairie is determined by the frontage length as follows:

    • 1 portable sign for up to 30m of frontage.
    • 2 portable signs for between 30m to 150m.
    • 3 portable signs for a frontage greater than 150m.
  • The city of Grande Prairie allows illuminated portable signs.
