General Development Standards for Signs in Red Deer
- Signs shall not:
- obstruct or interfere with the visibility of a traffic control device; the natural lighting, air intake, or ventilation of a Building; or with vehicular or pedestrian traffic;
- emit sound or noise;
- contain Third Party Advertising.
- Signs shall be located a minimum of:
- 1.0 m back from an existing or future curb line; and from a Boundary, when located on private property.
- 0.3 m from the inside edge of any sidewalk; and from any Site access;
- Signs shall not be located in or on parking space or loading spaces or in a way that reduces the number of parking stalls or loading spaces required by this bylaw or an approved Development Permit.
- Signs may be Illuminated
- “Temporary Sign” is a Sign that is not intended to be permanent and is allowed for a limited time by the applicable development standards.
- “Portable Sign” is a flat, easily movable Temporary Sign with independent supports. It may have 1 or 2 sides of Copy.
- No permit required
- A maximum of 6 Temporary Signs per Site
- Portable Signs shall be located a minimum of:
- 1.5 m from any Site Boundary;
- 3.0 m from any access/egress to or from a Site; and
- 100.0 m from another Portable Sign
- maximum of 180 days/year, max 90 days at a time with 30 days between sign placement
- 5m inside of property line
Temporary Signs on Public Property in Red Deer
